A Strong Vincent High School grad, Steve grew up on the city’s west side and got his start in journalism at Erie News Now (WSEE-TV) before going on to a remarkable three-decade career at C-SPAN. He served as political editor, senior executive producer and host of Washington Journal, covering every presidential campaign since 1992 and interviewing every U.S. president from Gerald Ford to Donald Trump.
Steve was one of 16 children. His parents were Hubert L. “Hoot” Scully and Elizabeth Jane North “Betty” Scully.
Steve served as president of the White House Correspondents’ Association and was inducted into the Pennsylvania Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2019. Today, he hosts The Briefing with Steve Scully on SiriusXM and continues to bring national conversations back to his hometown through his work with the Jefferson Educational Society.
