Meet General Michael Dunlavey, one of our honorees on Sept. 12

General Michael Dunlavey, a distinguished military intelligence officer, jurist, and public servant was born in Buffalo, New York, and built deep ties to Erie, Pennsylvania.

He is a 1967 graduate of the University of Notre Dame and later served in the U.S. Army in Germany and Vietnam. During a military career that spanned more than three decades, Dunlavey rose to the rank of Major General, specializing in military intelligence and national security operations. 

Following the attacks of September 11, he was selected to command Joint Task Force 170 during the nation's response to global terrorism. 

After retiring from military service, Dunlavey served as a judge in Erie County. He also became an advocate for veterans and played a role in supporting innovative approaches to veterans' treatment courts and related community initiatives.
