The General's parents Edward L. Bolton Sr. and Louise D. Harris Bolton raised seven children. He attended Lincoln Elementary School, Wilson Junior High School and graduated from Academy High School.
He went on to a distinguished career in the U.S. Air Force, working in some of the nation’s most important military, space and aviation programs.
He commanded the 45th Space Wing at Patrick Air Force Base, overseeing operations connected to America’s space launch program. He also served in senior positions involving missile and space systems and ultimately retired from the Air Force in 2013.
He later went on to serve as the Federal Aviation Administration’s associate administrator for NextGen, helping lead the nation’s effort to modernize the air traffic control system. He later served in senior leadership in the aerospace and defense industry and has continued to contribute his expertise to the nation’s aviation and space efforts.
He helped shape both America’s military space program and the future of aviation.
